Spinal Care Chiropractor in Matthews, NC

Where Your Head Goes, Your Body Follows

Most spinal pain has a root cause that standard care misses — a structural misalignment in the upper cervical spine that creates nerve interference and pulls the rest of the body out of balance. At The Balanced Body Center, we use NUCCA upper cervical chiropractic and the Thompson drop-table technique to correct the spine from the top down. We look at the spine as a kinetic chain. Where your head goes, your body follows.

When Spinal Problems Go Uncorrected, the Rest of the Body Follows

The Pain Keeps Coming Back

Temporary relief without addressing root cause means the same issue returns — often worse. Muscle work and medication manage symptoms. They don't correct the alignment problem driving them.

The Nerve Interference Spreads

An uncorrected upper cervical misalignment doesn't stay in the neck. It affects posture, nervous system function, and downstream joints — creating secondary problems throughout the body.

Surgery Becomes the Default Option

Many patients come to us after being told surgery is their only option. Conservative spinal correction and decompression are frequently effective alternatives — but only if pursued before conditions worsen.

Common Challenges We Solve

People Come to Us When They're Dealing With

Spinal problems rarely stay in one place. Cervical misalignment affects posture, nervous system function, and the body's ability to manage pain. Whether you're dealing with neck pain, recurring headaches, or disc-related discomfort, the underlying structural pattern is often what needs to be addressed — not just the symptom. Our approach identifies that pattern and builds a correction plan around it.

Chronic neck pain and stiffness

Recurring headaches and migraines with a cervical root cause

Herniated or bulging discs

Sciatica and nerve compression

Forward head posture and tech neck

Arm numbness, tingling, and referred nerve pain

Degenerative disc disease

Sinuses and allergies with a structural component

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions we hear most from new patients.

Does the NUCCA adjustment hurt?

NUCCA is one of the gentlest upper cervical techniques available. The adjustment involves a precise, low-force contact at the Atlas — no twisting, snapping, or cracking. Most patients feel little to nothing during the adjustment, and many experience a sense of relaxation or relief shortly after.

I've tried chiropractic before and it didn't last. Why would this be different?

Most chiropractic approaches address the symptom area directly. NUCCA addresses the upper cervical foundation — the atlas alignment that governs posture and nervous system function for the whole body. When the foundation is corrected, the downstream effects often resolve with it. Many long-term sufferers notice meaningful improvement once this root cause is addressed.

Will I need to come in forever?

Care plans at The Balanced Body Center are guided by objective findings, not indefinite protocols. The goal is correction, not ongoing management. Once the correction holds and the body stabilizes, the frequency of visits typically decreases. We aim to get you to a point where you need us as little as possible.

Can spinal care help with my headaches?

Many headaches — particularly those at the base of the skull, behind the eyes, or accompanied by neck stiffness — have a cervical root cause. Correcting upper cervical alignment relieves nerve pressure in the region, and many patients notice a significant reduction in headache frequency and intensity over the course of care.

Is spinal decompression covered by insurance?

The Balanced Body Center is cash-based and out of network with most insurance plans. Medicare is accepted. Superbills are available for patients who wish to submit claims to their out-of-network benefits. Our fees are often comparable to or less than a standard chiropractic co-pay through insurance.
